About
AI HORIZON is an arcade-style space shooter — collect stars, blast asteroids, and beat the clock.
After every mission, an AI officer radios in a debrief from the Space Force Base. Commander Vega, a gruff veteran, debriefs missions that end early, and Captain “Altair” Straehle, a hotshot ace, debriefs every full 90-second mission.
How to play
Your goal is to score as many points as possible in 90 seconds without having to eject due to an imminent asteroid collision. Move your ship to collect stars and shoot asteroids. Some asteroids are hardened and take many hits.
Controls
- Move: Arrow keys or WASD, or the mouse. Clicking Launch Mission or the game captures the mouse (the cursor hides), so it keeps steering at the screen edges; Esc releases it and a click captures it again. On touch screens, touch and drag with one finger to have the ship follow it.
- Fire: Spacebar, or click and hold. On touch screens, hold a second finger anywhere to fire continuously (while you steer), or tap quickly to fire a single shot.
- Sound on / off: M, or the Sound toggle on the start and leaderboard screens.
Scoring
- Regular stars: +25
- Bonus stars: +50
- Regular asteroids: +10
- Hardened asteroids (10 hits): +100
- 8 bonus asteroids (10 hits): +250
- Every 1000 points: +250
- Bullet upgrade (after 2500 points, or from the first shot with the Bullet Upgrade): hardened and bonus asteroids take 50% fewer hits
- Finale (last 15 seconds): all points double
- End-of-run shots fired accuracy bonus (0-100%)
Bullet Upgrade
- A one-time $0.99 purchase: upgraded bullets from the first shot of every mission. Find it as the last link on the start and leaderboard screens, on the website and in the Google Play app.
- Sign in with Google once, then pay with Stripe on the website or with Google Play in the Android app. The upgrade belongs to your Google account, so it works on every device and browser where you sign in with it.
- Leaderboard scores flown with it show ⚡ after the initials.
- Stripe (website) or Google Play (Android app) sells it as the merchant of record: your receipt comes from them, and they handle payment questions and refunds. A refunded purchase removes the upgrade.
Technology
- An AWS serverless architecture comprised of CloudFront & S3 (frontend) and Cognito, API Gateway, Lambda, Bedrock, Polly & DynamoDB (backend), with Captain “Altair” Straehle's voice by ElevenLabs. Sign-in is with Google, and payments are by Stripe on the web and Google Play Billing on Android.
- A Progressive Web App and Android app that can be installed on your device and works offline, with Ultra HD-ready graphics and sound & music synthesized live in code.
- 100% AI-generated.
